Friends
Since I am obsessed with the show Friends, and since our upcoming leadership project features clips from the show, my group decided to re-create the famous icecream shot that I featured in a previous blog post. It is going to be shown at some point during our powerpoint presentation. so cute. love us.
Dilemma...
Joan Rivers, one of my favorite comedians and fashion commentators is coming to Virgina Tech tomorrow!!! For $17, I would be able to walk right across the drillfield and into Burrus Hall to see her show. Problem is, I have an intramural co-ed softball game. I am the "captain" and since one of our other girls can't make it, we'll be short a player if I don't show up. This could be a once and a lifetime experience, though! Plus, tickets to her show are so expensive everywhere else. It would be SUCH a shame if I couldn't go. Maybe this rain will continue...

Take me back...
To NYC
Or more specifically, take me back to Bryant Park, my favorite place in the city. What is it that I love so much about Bryant Park? Is it because it is the former home of NY Fashion Week? Maybe. The fact that there's a Jamba Juice right across the street? Quite Possibly. Since it is extremely underrated? Probably. I just love with its hidden charm. Take this ivy-covered restaurant found within the park, for instance, I fell in love, it is fabulous. The park is just so quaint and cute! Yeah it gets overlooked because it is not the grand old park that is central park, but it's so awesome! Like where else does HBO show free movies on a lawn once per week during the summer? Nowhere.

Coffee Cup Artwork
Stumbleupon.com once again introduced me to something incredible, the artwork of Holton Rower. This video basically shows the making of a masterpiece. Such a simple idea, yet beautifully unique results. Genius.

Can we talk about....
The problem with prom dresses.
What isn't wrong with the typical prom dress?? Between that dreadful satin fabric, the overload of sequins, and the hideous poofs, today's typical prom dress is just flat out tacky in my opinion. I had such a hard time finding classy, elegant prom dresses because every prom dress store was filled with overpriced trainwrecks. The dresses in these stores are such a joke. They are poorly made and insanely expensive. Why would ANYONE choose to spend $400+ on one of those gowns when you can buy a classy BCBG gown for the same price and in most cases for less! OR an even better option that is on the rise, is by utilizing a website such as http://www.renttherunway.com/ . Members pay anywhere between $50-$300 to rent a designer dress for 4days, and it is guaranteed to fit because you can choose for them to send you two different sizes at no additional charge.
Better Options:
From Nordstroms, Bloomingdales and Rent the Runway
My Prom Dresses:
Senior, Junior

RIP Elizabeth Taylor
Iconic Hollywood actress, Elizabeth Taylor, passed away this morning from congestive heart failure. She was 79. I mainly knew her as the face of White Diamonds perfume (one of my Nunny's favorites), but in her earlier days, she started out as a child actress in Lassie Come Home. Later on she starred in major Hollywood blockbusters such as Cleopatra and the original Father of the Bride. She was actually the first actor to get paid a million dollars for a role, as she did in Cleopatra. In addition to her screen credit, she was notorious for her many husbands and divorces throughout the years and she was also a good friend of Michael Jackson.

I've been dreaming about...
New Episodes of Friends
Oh how I love watching Chandler, Monica, Phoebe, Rachel, Ross and Joey interact. My mom never used to let me watch the show when it was on TV, but a few years ago I started watching episodes of it online. Every Tuesday, thewb.com would upload 7 new episodes, and after a whileee, I saw every season. Any time I am bored, I just pick an episode of friends to watch, it's great! I haven't had much free time to do that here in college, though, until my leadership group decided to incorporate clips into our presentation, that is. I am in charge of the clips, so I have been watching episodes as my homework. It has been wonderful. This sounds weird, but after watching so many episodes in the past couple years, I feel like I truly know the characters! My mom compared me to Monica before I even started watching the series, and after watching "The One in Barbados part II" and seeing Monica get crazy competitive in a simple game of ping pong, I know why my mom thinks we are so similar.

how much I still love PB Teen, even though I won't be a teen for much longer?
Just look at that room setup! I want that! I don't even like blue and brown all that much, but I love it! I love my dorm room and my room at home, but PB Teen has so many pieces that would fit in so well! They have the best use of bright colors, and playful patterns. My favorite piece that I have from there are my patterned bulletin boards in my room at home. I always make sure to shop their sale section, they have some surprisingly good deals sometimes!

Photo of the Day - Disney
I captured some gorgeous lighting while standing outside of Ghiradelli in Downtown Disney during my vacation last summer. I love that you can see Fulton's Crab House and the fairly new hot air balloon in the background. Summer where are you?!

Can you believe...
How perfect Blake Lively is as Chanel's new "It-Girl"????
Blake Lively is in Chanel in all of the above looks. She looks fantastic in ALL of them. From her beachy blonde hair to her mile-high legs, she is the complete package, and the perfect pick for the title. My favorite look happens to be the red, sparkly frock, but they are all absolute perfection.

Ad I love...
Michael Kors
Michael Kors has done some great advertising the past couple of years. His ads always make me hesitate before flipping to the next page of my Instlye magazine, and I usually rip them out. I just love the mix of blue and yellow tones! The color scheme along with the tan bodies and sunglasses, remind me so much of summer. The scooter is a cute and somewhat nostalgic touch, and the bag slung over the girl's shouler is fabulous. They both just look so happy! Oh how I wish it was warm outside...

Look I'm loving...
Diane Kruger in Gucci
Her Gucci frock is most definitely high fashion and quite possibly avant garde. It is not your average cocktail dress, but she rocks it! I can picture Cate Blanchett wearing something like this, because she is not afraid to take risks either. Let's be real, wearing an artistic dress such as this was a risk for Kruger, but a well thought out and perfectly executed risk. The reason why I love this piece is because it combines fashion and art. Just look at the intricate detail of the bust and bodice, and the placement of the flaps on the skirt! Genius! Love the neckline, love the colors, love the mix of materials, love the look.

Heidi Klum's string of bad looks?
I want to start off by expressing how much I respect Heidi Klum. First of all, she is a genius for creating Project Runway. It is by far my favorite show on television. She is gorgeous, a great mom, a smart businesswoman , and very determined (a fact I learned by watching her THS on E!). Lately, though, her fashion choices have left me wondering what has been going on. The picture on the left was her Golden Globes gown: a colorful Marc Jacobs. It was fun, but very unflattering, it did nothing to show off her frame! Also, I had issues with her hair and makeup. The center picture (and my least favorite) is a coral Amanda Wakeley jumpsuit worn to a promotional appearance. When I look at this I think saggy. The final picture shows her post-oscar party dress: a Julien MacDonald designed disco ball. It may have been figure-flattering, but way too over the top and kind of looked cheap (sorry!). Heidi - I love you, please show off your hott 37 year old bod in a figure flattering mini - your ultimate go-to.

Photo of the Day
I may not have taken this picture, but it was taken in the 50's and happened to be on my Nunny and Pap's wedding day (right, center). They drove to Virginia to tie the knot with my Aunt Erm (left) and her husband, because my Nunny was too young to be married in Pennsylvania. I scanned this picture into the computer after finding it while cleaning out drawers at my Nunny's townhouse. Unfortunately, both my nunny and pap passed away, but my Aunt Erm is still alive and well. She has so much energy for being in her 80's! I really miss my pap and am still adjusting to life without my nunny. If you read my very first blogpost you would know that my nunny is who introduced me to fashion in the first place, and is also the beautiful woman pictured in the center of my banner at the top of the page. She has been my fashion inspiration and always encouraged me to dress welll. I have even been able to incorporate many of her pieces into my current wardrobe. I will always treasure this picture and view it as a work of art in itself.

I've been dreaming about...
I have been dreaming about getting back on the potter's wheel. I sometimes just stare at my pieces (pictured above) and wish I could just go to the ceramics room. I can't though, becauseI'm not at highschool and at VT, you have to be in ART or ARCH to take those classes....unfair. I may just have to email the professor and BEG her to give me a chance!

Look I'm loving...
Rachel Bilson - Dior
I can't think of a dress that reminds me more of spring that this cute Dior frock. It's fun and flirty yet high fashion at the same time! I love that the skirt is ruffled with a flowy feel, yet the rest of the garment is fitted. The subtle print and detail at the bust are complete perfection. Plus, her nude heels elongate her legs and the overall silhouette is perfect for her petite frame. Well done!

I've been dreaming about...
owning a pair of Tory Burch flats. I have been wanting to rock the classic Reva flat for over two years, but have yet to do so. I will hopefully own a pair one day, but for now, they are the shoes I will dream about.
